What about Summer Writing for students? Summer Reading, the school-assigned book for summer, is a right of passage. But, Summer Writing is a golden opportunity for students to stay in writing shape, shore up grammar and vocabulary, and get to the next level.

Ra-Ra Summer Reading
Knock out that Summer Reading Book! And, be ready for the inevitable assessments this fall: tests, quizzes, projects, and papers. Students work on and create useful writing take-a-ways to be used as study guides, assigned essay content, and discussion notes. Get an A on that first assignment on Summer Reading!
Right On Writing
Writers step through grammar, sentence structure, paragraph structure, and essay structure using fun, kid-friendly subjects. Grammar Zone games make learning and using grammar fun.
Day 1 is a personal, narrative essay, and Day 2 is a literary criticism essay on the writer’s choice of a work by a musical artist, film director, podcast creator, or writer. Or, assigned, summer reading books can be used for the essay for optimal reading comprehension.
Cool Creative Writing
Is there a writer in the house? Participate in a Writer’s Workshop with creative writing goals and activities. The group will determine what types of writing to work on: memoir, personal essay, fiction, graphic novel, and poetry. Writing tasks will tap the creativity and innovation within, but leading up to a real piece of writing. Final writing pieces will get feedback on grammar, vocabulary, structures, mechanics, and content in order to be submitted in portfolios, applications, or publications.
